Irish Strings: June 2017

What's this all about?

This blog exists for three reasons:

1. To 'hang out my shingle' as an Irish musician looking for a band. My instruments are (in order of proficiency): Irish tenor banjo, octave mandolin, lead and backing vocals, Irish bouzouki, mandolin, and guitar. I'm interested in playing a mix of traditional dance tunes, Irish folk tunes, bawdy pub songs, and the occasional contemporary cover by groups like Gaelic Storm or The Pogues.

2. To share my music-related files. I make my own fake book music sheets for most of the songs I learn, often correcting/combining/expanding things I find online, or synthesizing things I can't find. This blog is my way of sharing them with the online, Irish music community. Incidentally, this is also the biggest reason I'm using a blog in 2017. For the layout style.

3. To make new friends. I am always interested in meeting and talking with folks that share my passion. If you are a fellow aficionado or purveyor of any kind of Irish music, feel free to message or comment or subscribe.
